Default Missing program??

When I ran Microsoft Outlook Live an additional program started and the icon
displayed in the taskbar by the clock. Maybe something to do with the
exchange server....beats me. But a popup appeared when I was typing then
disappeared and so did the Icon. It looked like the 4 square windows logo
(sort of). I know its associated with Outlook Live and would like it to run
again. PS. I reinstalled Outlook Live with to no avail. Thanks

I removed thru Add/remove the MOOC program, reinstalled the connector with
the CD for Outlook Live. To no avail. I checked for disabled COM add ins,
to no avail. There are no COM add ins installed. Beats me....it connects to
MSN Hotmail and allows the access. Im just lost....and dont want to lose any
functionality...whatever it was.

If it allows the access, what's the problem? What did that unknown program
do for you that you can no longer do?

Well, Brian....curiosity killed the cat. The one thing Im wondering is if it
was Exchange Server. Does MOOL have an exchange server address? My setup
doesnt have it. None the less, I will save my folders, uninstall, clean the
registry, then reinstall MOOL. Not really that hard to do, but, I figured I
would find out here. I will let you know after the reinstall what that
program/icon was & does, if it installs. Thanks for your help.

Outlook Live works with the Hotmail servers to provide an Exchange-like
experience with Outlook, even so far as to using an OST as the cache.

I got it to work. I created a new profile. MS Support said that the
registry setting for the old profile could be corrupted. Also, Though I can
get my wifes calendar now. I cant move any of my appointments because she
has to be a premium member. Once that happens then I can merge items. With
regard to the missing office icon in the taskbar by the clock. beats me. It
seems to be working now, and thats what matters. Still I MS support is going
to answer that soon I hope. Once I find out I will let you know.
