Contact Grouping Problem
I can set up a contact group by right clicking on contacts. I select New
Group and name it "Banks". When I try to drag anything to it it will not go. I get that little circle with the diagional dash through it! |

Contact Grouping Problem
Version of Outlook? Where did you create this group?
If 2007, the group on the navigation bar is for a group of folders. If you want to create a group to send mail to, that is a distribution list. -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Let's Really Fix Outlook 2010 http://forums.slipstick.com/forumdisplay.php?f=34 "Moz" wrote in message ... Contact Grouping Problem
Sorry! Running 2007. Are groups used just for importing and exporting lists?
I am looking for a way to identify groups within my contacts such as insurance, banks, employees, etc for search abilities. Another issue I am having is that when I drag a contact to my mail icon on the navigation bar it brings up my folders and then I have to drop the contact in the outbox or the the contacts disappears. I found the contacts at the bottom of my in box. What am I doing wrong. It works great when I drop an email into my tasks or contacts. "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote: Version of Outlook? Contact Grouping Problem
You can to use Categories to "group" contacts. Then use the By Category view
to view them in groups or search for the category. Are you trying to start a new message to the contact? Does the contact really disappear or just not do anything? You should be able to drop it on the mail icon (don't hover or the folders will open) - you should also be able to drop it on the Inbox to start a new message. Or select the contact and use Actions, create, new message to... (also on the right click menu). -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Let's Really Fix Outlook 2010 http://forums.slipstick.com/forumdisplay.php?f=34 "Moz" wrote in message ... Contact Grouping Problem
Yes I am trying to start a new message! When I drag the contact to the mail
bar on the Navigation Pane it puts the contact down at the bottom of the In Box under the category "NONE". I can then grab the contact and put it back into the contacts. Contact Grouping Problem
Getting crazier by the minute. If I use the contact with email
" and release it at the mail bar it brings up the New mail like it is supposed to. On the right click Side it brings the options up as soon as I let go of the mouse. In other words it works! Our domain is wallaceinternational.com. When I use any other email address other than one ending in wallaceinternational.com it disappears to the bottom of the inbox. Almost like it does not recognize the email and address and so sends it back to the In-box. "Moz" wrote: Yes I am trying to start a new message! Contact Grouping Problem
Think I figured it out! I was using Plan Plus (Stephen Covey) and synching
my data to outlook 2003. I don't think Outlook is recognizing my files. If I delete the contact and enter it back in exactly as it was now the drag and drop works like it should. Oh well! Not sure why it works for every thing else. "Moz" wrote: Yes I am trying to start a new message!
