Default Uninstalling Outlook Express 2007.

Well, thanks for all the information! I'll try to get things right
this time.
Looking at my organiser specification, it says I need Outlook
98,2000,2002,or 2003 to be able to synchronise. From what I read
from your replies it seems that I need not have uninstalled the
Office
2007 Home and Student Edition, if I had known that neither Outlook
Express nor Outlook were installed by the program.
I am currently left with Outlook Express to uninstall so that I
can
install one of the above versions, as I mentioned, it is not
sufficient to remove Outlook by the "Add or Remove Windows
Components".
DD [using WinXP SP2 Home]
Outlook Express being installed should *not* prevent you from
installing any version of Outlook.

What is happening when you try to install Outlook and what version
are you trying to install?

I have a 2002 version of Outlook which I have been trying to install
but again it would seem that it is Outlook EXPRESS that I should be
installing! Another misunderstanding due to me thinking the two
programs are just different versions with Outlook itself being an
extension of Outlook Express. It now boils down to the fact that I
need to remove the latest version of Outlook Express in order
to replace it with the older version. Sorry about the
misunderstanding, I think I now know the differences.
Thanks again for your help, I now need to locate a standalone copy
of Outlook Express!

There is no 'standalone' version of Outlook Express. It is part of
the Operating System. In fact, even including the occasional patches
that have come out for it, it is the same program today that shipped
with XP when XP first came out.

Heck, even the 'Windows Mail' renaming didn't substantially change
the program.

If your third party program won't work on XP with OE, you may need an
older operating system.

Has the software ever run on XP? Does it say it is supported on XP?
Does the company who produced it exist anymore?

The program is compatible with XP Home or XP Professional, and has
run on XP. Both the Windows XP setups I have are up to date with all the
MS patches and service packs.
I have two organisers both are Sharp 'Wizards' [OZ590A]. The Sharp
internet site is not helpful. When I try to install the Synchronisation
program from the CD it tells me that I "...can't install and use the
synchronisation software Microsoft Outlook Express is not available".
Below that it has "Install Microsoft Outlook" and "Setup Microsoft
Outlook" I don't use either Outlook or Outlook Express for E-mails
or Newsgroups but OE is certainly installed on both my machines,
as would be expected. Since I don't use OE at all, it is not set up
for sending and receiving messages on either computer. Could this
be a problem or are there some other settings that I should know about?

Beats me. If OE starts and is able to run, then you'd really need to ask
the people who write the software that isn't able to find it.

I would probably go to http://www.sharpusa.com/global/Conta...,1878,,00.html
and email them.
