Outlook 2007, Windows Vista Ultimate. Distribution lists.
What happened to the scroll wheel function when a distribution list is open? Is there a setting? What happened to the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+W to update the distribution list from contacts? What happened to the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+A to save and close? |

You need to understand that DL's have been out of the development cycle for
years, have never worked as designed, and will get worse with each successive version until, finally, everyone stops using them. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Charles W Davis" wrote in message ... If they have truly been "out of the development cycle," how did these
changes get made? Some programmer had to expend some time to accomplish the removal of these functions. Furthermore, some programmer worked hours to add the "ribbon" to the Distribution List Form. Distribution lists have worked for me in every release since Office 97. I know that I might look at categories. However, I have 1,500 addresses in 15 distribution lists that I have used for since 1998. h I will live with moving the mouse to the scroll bar, hunting for the member, then again to the Select Members, then to Update Now icon... None of what you report can be reproduced. I suspect none of these so called
changes were deliberate, if they even exist. They are far more likely the result of neglect. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Charles W Davis" wrote in message ... Russ,
Take a look at this pdf: http://www.anthemwebs.com/images/russ.pdf It shows an image of the top of an Outlook 2003 Distribution List and an Outlook 2007 Distribution List. Now tell me again that the "so called changes..." don't exist and are the simple "result of neglect." I can understand that you may not have a Trackball Explorer and can't reproduce the inability to scroll. "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote in message ... None of what you report can be reproduced. I'm sure they just tried to slap the ribbon on an old interface that was not
otherwise changed and that now works even more poorly than it did before. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Charles W Davis" wrote in message ... The changes shown in the pictures you supply are GUI changes and have nothing to do with the functioning of the DLs themselves. However, I just compared OL 2003 and OL 2007. When a DL is open, ALT+F4 or ALTFC is Close for both versions and you'll be asked if you want to save the changes.. ALT+W is Update Now for OL 2003 and ALTHU is Update Now for OL 2007. Save and Close is ALTHAV in OL 2007 and ALT+S in OL 2003. You're correct for the mouse wheel. It is available in OL 2003 for an open DL but not for OL 2007, or at least that's the way it is for me. -- Brian Tillman |

Thank you Brian. Especially the ALTHU for Update Now, and the ALTHAV
for Save & Close. It is interesting that since nothing happens when ALT+W and ALT+S are pressed, they could have left well enough alone. Certainly took a bit of programmer activity to accomplish that. I started programming on an IBM 705 Data Processing Machine in 1957 and worked in the industry until I retired from IBM.
