Default Cannot find OE4.01

Outlook can be a strange beast!

For some reason it refuses to start because it says it requires OE4.01 or
greater. The problem is, there is the latest version of OE (6.xx) already
installed on the system.

Any ideas anyone?

OUTLOOK and OUTLOOK Express are two completely separate programs. Can you
clarify what you have here and what is happening.
Thanks.

Some older versions of outlook toss up this error - for whatever reason,
they can't "see"
the newer versions of OE (and expect it since it handles news and address
books for IMO mode). We're seeing many more reports of this error as people
try to install old versions of outlook on vista.

Thanks for the response everybody!

It is Microsoft Outlook XP that is causing the problem. I have Outlook
Express 6.00 installed but it keeps asking for 4.01.

I am running WinXP SP2.
