This seems to a be a well-known problem. I have tried the following:
1 Carried out the setps in KB article 290684. I do not have a problem carrying out the procedure, and everything happens as I expect, but it does not fix the problem. 2 Tried removing and re-creating the email account. Does not fix the problem. 3 Examined the pop3 log file and the IP traffic for port 110. This showed that the server answered, gave an initial ready indication, and responded to the user name. However, the password is rejected. This provokes the username/password dialog to which I enter the password which is then accepted. The irony is that testing the account using the same password succeeds. The only palliative I have been able to use is to increase the mail- checking interval. But where is the fix? |
