I was doing a simple search in Outlook, it didn't find it in the Inbox, so I
told it to "Try searching in all mail items". After five minutes I gave up but couldn't find any way to cancel the search. Not CTRL C, CTRL Break, escape, clicking anywhere on the Outllok window, etc. I ending up killing it in Task manager. What is the correct way to kill a search in progress in Outlook 2007? |

The x to the right of the search field should do it.

I wasn't able to click that, or anything else. I couldn't click the X, or
File, Exit, etc - the search was completing tying up the application which is why I am asking this question here. "Diane Poremsky [MVP]" wrote in message ... Did you try changing folders? That's the only other way I know of. It
sometimes takes a little time to make the switch - its not instant like it is normally. If nothing works, you need to 'crash' outlook- you can try right clicking on the task bar button and choosing close or open task manager and end the process (on the Processes tab). -- Diane Poremsky [MVP - Outlook] Outlook Tips: http://www.outlook-tips.net/ Outlook & Exchange Solutions Center: http://www.slipstick.com/ Outlook Tips by email: EMO - a weekly newsletter about Outlook and Exchange: Do you sync your mailbox with a smartphone or pda? http://forums.slipstick.com/showthread.php?t=39473 "M Skabialka" wrote in message ... I did crash it through task manager, but was hoping there was a more elegant
way of doing it, rather than possibly corrupting my mailbox, with some combination of keystrokes or something. I was unable to select a folder as you suggested.
