Default Outlook 2010 lost eMail addresses from contacts

Hi All,

Outlook 2010 14.0.4536.1000 and SBS 2003 Exchange Server.

I had a customer call me with a strange question this morning.
Seems everything in his contacts is there -- names, addresses,
phone numbers, etc. -- except their eMail addresses. I had him
turn all the column on for eMail and still nothing but empty
columns.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,
-T

To what view are you referring? If email addresses are missing from the
actual Contact Record, seems to me you should be examining how these
Contacts were migrated to the beta version.

You can keep it here - the same people answering questions in the forum he
is sending you to also hang out here.

That said, we need more information in either forum- where do you see the
addresses missing?

Hi Russ,

I will have to Go To Assist into him and have him
show me where the records are missing.

Also, he is using SBS 2003 server Exchange. If
I am not mistaken, Exchange holds on to the
Contacts.

I will get back.

Hi Diane,

My customer thinks this is an Exchange problem.

I took two screen shots of what my customer is seeing.

1) The title is "short_name - Mailbox - Long_name - Microsoft Outlook".
There are a number of tabs. The active one is called "Home"
There are a number of icons. The active one is "By Category"
The left column says "My Contacts", "Long_User_Name"
The right column is a spreadsheet with Full Name, Company,
File As, Business Phone, etc. They are all populated except the
one called "E-mail"

2) The second screen shot is my entry (form) in his address book.
He got there by clicking on my name in the spreadsheet. The
window is titled "MY_Name - Contact". The icon that is lit is
called "General". The form is totally populated, except on the
left column under "Internet", "E-mail" (the one with the drop
down arrow.)

Hmm. It sure looks like the email addresses were removed. Since he's using
Exchange, he shoulda just opened the mailbox in 2010, no migration method to
blame for it.

Did he ever have the contacts in 2010? If he opened the mailbox in Outlook
2007, does he see them?

Does he have anything running on Exchange that might have removed them?

That is what I thought.

yes. He had them in 2007 and 2010. 2010 up till yesterday.

yes. him. He told me he did something, but I
could not make out what he meant. Sometimes
customers tell you the wildest things.

Is there a way to going into some console in
Exchange at check his contacts?
