Hello all..
after having some difficulties a month ago and having to reset IE7 back to original setup....and then installing Acrobat 9.3....my .pdf's as email attachments in OE6 will no longer open, tho I can save to the desktop and they open up fine using the new Acrobat 9.3 when I do just try to open up the attachment, I get a modal window that simply states the same "this file does not have a program assoc...." etc and go to Folder Options to set that up. Been there and done that like 5 times and STILL can not just open up a .pdf attachment. googled for same and have re reg'd all the various .dlls needed, except for some reason the mshtml.dll gives me this error "mshtml.dll was loaded but the dll register server entry point was not found. This file cannot be registered." so can someone offer why that might be and how do I now fix that? Jim XPPro/SP3 and completely updated all the time; OE6 too... |

Save the attachment to your HDD. Right click on it and Open With | Choose
Program. Find and choose a program that works and then check the box: Always use this program to open this kind of file. This should enable you to open these attachments in the future. -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail] Imperial Beach, CA "JVRudnick" wrote in message ... thanks for the response, Bruce...but did that weeks ago. this does not work
on my workstation...no matter how often I try that, it DOES ensure of course that all .pdf icons on the desktop DO open when dbl/clked... but it does NOT get those same .pdfs to open via OE6... is there any other answer, as that wont work in this case? Do you have Adobe Reader installed as well as Acrobat? IIRC, there is some
sort of conflict with Acrobat. What I don't recall is if you had to get the reader as well and associate the attachments with that, or if you had both there was no fix. What do you have? -- Bruce Hagen MS-MVP [Mail] Imperial Beach, CA "JVRudnick" wrote in message ... thanks for the response, Bruce...but did that weeks ago. this does not work on my workstation...no matter how often I try that, it DOES ensure of course that all .pdf icons on the desktop DO open when dbl/clked... but it does NOT get those same .pdfs to open via OE6... is there any other answer, as that wont work in this case? The issue is that you need an OPEN action in the File Association for
the files to open from within OE. Acrobat generally installs an action like "Open with Adobe Read x.0". That won't cut it for OE. You need to add and action that just says OPEN. See the Identifying Attachment File Types and Setting File Associations section of Decoding Internet Attachments - A Tutorial http://TechHelp.Santovec.us/decode.htm#identify -- Mike - http://TechHelp.Santovec.us "JVRudnick" wrote in message ... thanks for the response, Bruce...but did that weeks ago. this does not work on my workstation...no matter how often I try that, it DOES ensure of course that all .pdf icons on the desktop DO open when dbl/clked... but it does NOT get those same .pdfs to open via OE6... is there any other answer, as that wont work in this case?
