Default outlook express outgoing mail

Can anybody help me!
I am running windows XP and use outlook express for emails. Over the last 3/4
months I have experienced problems with sending email, incoming are no
problem - on sending email I am getting an error message,
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop.orangehome.co.uk',
Server: 'smtp.orangehome.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

I have tried to sort it myself and sometimes by rebooting the PC clears the
problem but now that does not clear it up - I have spoken with Orange and
they are not much help

This issue is most probably caused by your AV scanning your emails.
Disable the scanning by Uninstalling your AV then re-installing it without the email
integration(scanning)

Default outlook express outgoing mail

Hey I had the same problem.

I just changed the outgoing mail servers to my ISP's mail servers.

The settings that Microsoft wants me to use just did not work. At all.

It made me wonder who DID set them up with the Microsoft supplied server
information...

What settings did Microsoft want you to use? How would they know? You're
*supposed* to set up your outgoing mail server to the ISP's mail servers.

I thought they wanted me to use the live.com service. Could be wrong.
