Default How can I check/read/reply to email from my networked laptop?

I just bought a laptop to keep downstairs in my house so I can access email
easier. I am having a hard time figuring out how to have my outlook express
account mirrored onto this laptop. Is what I'm tying to do impossible? I want
to be able to access my outlook express account from another computer in the
house. I'm so frustrated and I'm thinking the laptop may have to go if I
can't do this. I have comcast as a provider if that matters. Thanks!!

Hi, Wendy, take the laptop upstairs, position it next to your PC.
Open Outlook Express go to toolsaccounts, on them both,
On the PC double click the Comcast Account.
On the Laptop(select any failed attempts and remove those accounts),
Addmail account now copy all you see on the PC to your laptop, each tab in
turn.
On the advanced tab of each account on both machines, set to leave a copy of
the messages on the server, set a number of days on both to suit how you
will use them.

Have you been here?:

Now the fun way :-) Using your network, Use the Export/Import features.

Steve's ( mac's) instructions will get all incoming mail to both computers,
but sent items will only appear on the computer that receives it. Better
would be to see if the server will allow you to set up the account as an
IMAP account.

Thanks for the replys. I'll look into those links. How do I find out about
IMAP? Is something that would have to do with Comcast?

If I reply to an email from the laptop I'd like to have the message saved on
both systems since I won't remember if I ever responded otherwise. THis
sounds good if I can get it all to work. Maybe I need to hire someone to get
it all setup since I'm not that computer savvy.

I just bought the laptop though and I'm going to do a fresh install of
Windows on it so I can get rid of all the junk it pre-installs on it. Just
wondering if there is anything that I need to know when it installs outlook
express to get these features to work. Thanks again!

From another post:

Set up an IMAP server on one of the computers. I use Mercury Mail:

http://www.pmail.com/overviews/ovw_mercury.htm

Use the computer which is mostly always on; it will have to be on for the
times when you access the other computer. Set up the Mercury Mail POP3
Distributing client to fetch your email from your POP3 servers. They will
be kept on the disk of the computer running Mercury Mail. Set up the
Mercury Mail IMAP4 server. Log in from whichever computer you are on using
your favorite IMAP capable email program; MS Outlook Express works just
fine this way. None of the other modules need to be selected.

Oh, Then OE's Leave messages on the server for POP3 accounts is just as
good except for the safety factor of always having a copy of saved messages
on the server.
