Default Email notification icon...

I get the little envelope icon in my taskbar tray whenever I receive a new
email. I have message rules set so anything from someone not in my address
book goes directly to Deleted Items. However, even when the only email I
receive goes to the Deleted Items folder I still receive the notification
icon. I would like the icon to appear only when email goes to my Inbox.

How would I do that?

Thanks.

Even if the mail goes to Deleted Items, it is still considered new mail. If
you *truly* do not want mail from anyone that is not in your Address Book,
then change the rule to Delete it from server. You won't see it and you
won't see the icon. Otherwise, you have to live with it.

Thank you both for your replies. If the message rule was perfect I'd follow
your suggestion, Bruce, but every so often something I want gets diverted to
the Deleted box.

Oh well, I tried.

You'll have to live with the icon showing then. The only other thing you may
be interested in is playing a different New Message sound for mail that goes
to different folders, or is from different people.

Take a look at OETune just for kicks:
