I sometimes cannot open attachments to E mails because, presumably my
browser - in this case Outlook Express- does not recognise the format in
which the image has been sent. I understand this is because the appropraie
software is not installed on my computer. In this event, how do I obtain
information as to the necessary software requuired.

It would be helpful if you would mention the particular formats. In the
meantime, do some searches on Google for the file formats and/or refer to
this very good site: http://insideoe.tomsterdam.com/tips/
Heirloom, old and need to download some
coffee

Meechingron. I cannot at this stage recollect the formats in question but will search the site you mention to see if this does help. In the meantime, thanks for your prompt reply.

Mike. Thanks a lot for your very helpful tutorial. As an 86 year old with
only two years computer experience I ahall need some time to absorb and
interpret the wealth of information contained therein. I am sure the answer
must be in there somewhere! Thanks again.

That gives you a place to start. But feel free to post back with
