My OE version 6 is downloading my hotmail email, but I cannot either view in
the preview panel, nor open as an email (I can under notepad) and I cannot
send or reply to any emails in OE. I can do it in MSN, but I want OE!

Hi Michael,
I do not get any error message.
When I double click on the mail (as I can view the header including subject
and sender etc), it appears to open, but there is nothin in it except an
attachment, which is a txt file and this is the notepad. I double click on
this and can see the message in notepad, but cannot reply as this is not an
option for me.
Can you help please?

Is the attachment named something like MESSAGE5.TXT? That's a problem
that can come about when messages are forwarded through multiple mail
systems. Forwarding from AOL to Hotmail seems a common cause.

To read the message normally, you need to save the TXT file and rename
to an EML file (e.g. MESSAGE5.EML), then double click the EML file to
open in OE.

However, if you want to reply to the person who sent to you, you must go
back to the original blank message and reply there. If you do the reply
in the EML file, it will go to the previous person on the chain for
forwarding, who may not have any idea who you are or that you got a copy
of his message.
