Default Error when opening Outlook Express

Hello.
Please help with this issue. When I open Outlook Express I receive error
messages like:
Your 'Drafts' folder was not polled for its unread count. The operation was
canceled by the user. Account: 'mymail.phoenix.edu', Server:
'mymail.phoenix.edu', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Logon failu
unknown user name or bad password.', Port: 993, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error
Number: 0x800C006F
--

When presented with the login box, I type my username & password & all works
fine. Why do I get the error message to begin, and how can I fix this? TIA

Check your port settings with those provided by your isp.
Are you using the internet at home or logging on to the phoenix.edu network ?
Did you use the online setup tool from Phoenix to autosetup OE ?
Have you tried contacting UofP support

Thank you, Winston, but this doesn't help. UOP tech support told me it was a
registry error and that they would not help me, but that I needed to contact
Microsoft. Microsoft charges for this question, hence I have posted here. I
am at a loss for help.

I think they're guessing (e.g. fingerpointing) and leaving themselves
in the clear because you don't have enough proof (ammunition)
to point back at them.

Try activating OE's troubleshooting log for IMAP and see if it clarifies
what is happening. Unfortunately because the protocol is secure that
may be the best you can do as far as tracing the activity on that connection.
E.g. a regular packet trace will not be usable, except perhaps to help
explain the timing of the transactions.

BTW it will help if you describe what you were doing when the message
appeared. E.g. is Drafts the first folder to be opened when you connect
to that server? In that case perhaps all the message means is that your
authentication for that step failed but we have no idea why. E.g. they may be
thinking that OE issued the request but didn't wait long enough for it to be
successful. All you would have to do then would be to show instead that
something came back from the server and that OE's actions followed
logically from that. Etc.

Good luck

Default Error when opening Outlook Express

I really appreciate your help and the help of others. I will begin trying
the options you suggest, but first here is the answer to your other
questions.
When I open Outlook express, before I click on ANYTHING within Outlook
express, I get the 3 messages shown below in one error window.

I receive this message when I log onto the UOP network from home.
Steps I take are to click onto the icon that opens OE. This is the only
action I take before I get the error messages. I don't even specify an
address to go to, etc.

I do not take any actions, so I do not understand where the part about "The
operation was canceled by the user. " comes from.

Yes, I did use the online setup tool from Phoenix to autosetup OE.

Your 'Drafts' folder was not polled for its unread count. The operation was
canceled by the user. Account: 'mymail.phoenix.edu', Server:
'mymail.phoenix.edu', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Logon failu
unknown user name or bad password.', Port: 993, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error
Number: 0x800C006F

Your 'Inbox' folder was not polled for its unread count. The operation was
canceled by the user. Account: 'mymail.phoenix.edu', Server:
'mymail.phoenix.edu', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Logon failu
unknown user name or bad password.', Port: 993, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error
Number: 0x800C006F

Your 'Sent Items' folder was not polled for its unread count. The operation
was canceled by the user. Account: 'mymail.phoenix.edu', Server:
'mymail.phoenix.edu', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Logon failu
unknown user name or bad password.', Port: 993, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error
Number: 0x800C006F

and
Header download for the 'Inbox' folder did not complete. The operation was
canceled by the user. Account: 'mymail.phoenix.edu', Server:
'mymail.phoenix.edu', Protocol: IMAP, Server Response: 'Logon failu
unknown user name or bad password.', Port: 993, Secure(SSL): Yes, Error
