![]() "puzzledinmn" ... After I did a restore from OEQB I could not use the send link by email function in IE7. The message would hang and when I killed it, all instances of IE7 would go down with the ship. I installed Thunderbird. It took me several hours of searching help pages to get my Thunderbird accounts set up the way I like them. My email and browser are stable now and Thunderbird even filters spam. The only function I lost is you cannot send page page by email. Norton is installed again with everything turned on. The compact function did run after I imported to my new identities and deleted the old ones and closed OE6. I suppose there was a lot of space available from the two deleted identities. Thunderbird is free. -- Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM http://www.fjsmjs.com "puzzledinmn" wrote in message ... I had blank emails this morning so I broke down and created new identities. I found forum instructions on importing settings, address books, and messages. Everything worked fine until I rebooted. All my messages were gone! If I hadn't used Quick Backup I would have been dead. Is there going to be an Outlook Express 7 for XP? "Bruce Hagen" wrote: In the future, please include all posts and replies. It makes it much easier for us to help. Have you tried a new identity? If that didn't help, then get rid of Norton completely!!! And don't replace it with McAfee. I would suggest either Avast, (freeware), or NOD32, (not free). In the case of Avast, choose Custom Installation and under Resident Protection, uncheck: Internet Mail and Outlook/Exchange. Norton, and McAfee, products are not Outlook Express friendly, and I don't know of any OE-MVP that would recommend using them. My Outlook Express 6 problems appear to be caused by the Automatic LiveUpdate feature of Norton Internet Security (2006 and 2007 versions). I am manually running LiveUpdate to get around this. I discovered this by turning every feature off except for Automatic LiveUpdate and I still had the problem. Symantec has an incident number open on this. |
