I recently configured my outlook express to pick up my "Gmail". I followed
Google's instructions and then ran their troubleshooter to make sure I did everything OK. I know the settings are correct because if someone sends an email to that address it shows up in my outlooks express inbox, and I can reply to the message and it gets sent. The problem is when I go to create a new email using OE. when I click "send" I get the following message: "The message could not be sent. You do not have any accounts configured for sending e-mail. Please verify your account configuration." I've checked and rechecked my settings and I can't seem to figure out the problem. Can you help? Thanks, Dave |

Norman
Mine does and it always did. I am stuck with thousands of others using our ISP. This was the case with my previous cable ISP and now with the present DSL. I am guessing the OP is using Verizon but cannot tell since he\she is posting via that awful CDO interface -- Peter Please Reply to Newsgroup for the benefit of others Requests for assistance by email can not and will not be acknowledged. Hint= which ISP are you using It won't matter. A mail account can be configured to use 'smtp.gmail.com', with either port 465 (with SSL), or port 587 (with TLS). Either will work from *any* ISP account. Unless the ISP is blocking both port 465 and port 587. There is absolutely no reason for an ISP to block either port, much less both ports. -- Norman ~Shine, bright morning light, ~now in the air the spring is coming. ~Sweet, blowing wind, ~singing down the hills and valleys. |

If you are using "smtp.gmail.com", and you are *not* using your Gmail email address, you have to go to the Gmail web site and configure Gmail to use the non-Gmail email address. Log in to your Gmail account. Click on the "Settings" link in the upper right corner. Click on the "Accounts" tab. You will have to configure the "Send mail as:" part for the email address you want to use as sender. -- Norman ~Shine, bright morning light, ~now in the air the spring is coming. ~Sweet, blowing wind, ~singing down the hills and valleys. Norman, Thanks for your help. I actually was complicating things because I have an alias email address " that is forwarded to my gmail account and I was confusing things in the OE account config. I've adjusted the problems and everything is working fine. David |
