does anyone know where to find service pack 1 for outlook express 6.0

There is no Service Pack 1 for OE.

Look in Help | About and scroll down to msoe.dll and post the numbers there
/and/ state your Windows version.

Basically, if you are fully patched at Windows Updates, you have everything
there is to offer.

via my WSUS server, on some of my computers i get the message "the version of
windows you have installed does not match the update you are trying to

have other server 2000 sp4 computers that allow the update, the OE version on
theses machines is 6.00.3790.1830. WSUS is telling me that all the servers
need the update, but some will not take it, so i thought there was a service
pack i missed or something.

Bruce Im sorry on the other 2000 server sp4 machines the oe version is also
6.00.2800.1807, but they do not recieve the error message.

You need to get Internet Explorer 6 SP1, which includes OE6, SP1:

Then visit Windows Updates to get the applicable updates.

What update are you trying to install?

That error usually means either you're trying to install an update the
machine doesn't need (i.e., an update already installed supersedes the one
you're trying to install) or you're installing an incorrect version of the
update.

Are you sure they're not Windows Server 2003 machines...or perhaps a newer
version of MS Office is installed on those machines?

The most recent update for OE running in Win2K SP4/IE6 SP1 (MS06-076) would
give you the following file versions (OE Help About Files):

Directdb.dll v6.0.2800.1807
Inetcomm.dll v6.0.2800.1896
Msoe.dll* v6.0.2800.1807
Wab32.dll v6.0.2800.1849
Wabimp.dll v6.0.2800.1807

*Please note that MSOE.DLL is *not* Outlook Express (MSIMN.EXE).

6.00.2800.xxxx is OE6 with SP1.

The original OE6 is 6.00.2600.xxxx.
