Are you using the original OEM reinstallation CD? If SP2 was not on the
machine from the factory, you must remove that first. What problems are you having that make you want to reinstall? How to Reinstall or Repair IE6 and OE6: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378 Although written for WinXP, it works for all Windows operating systems 98 or newer. If you are using WinXP/SP2, and it was not already on your computer from the factory, you will have to remove SP2 first. How to remove SP2: http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;EN-US;875350 -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ -- Bruce Hagen MS MVP - Outlook Express ~IB-CA~ "CJT80" wrote in message ... WinXP, WinXP SP1 or WinXP SP2? Which of those 3 came preinstalled on the machine?

Try going to Control Panel | Add / Remove Programs | Set Program Access and
Defaults and set IE as default. Also Control Panel | Internet Settings | Programs and click the reset web settings and also clear the Temporary Internet Files and delete all offline content. steve "CJT80" wrote in message ... It came with Windows XP preinstalled, it had SP1 and then SP2 installed when
they were released. The issue relates to FaceParty.com and it's Party Chat service, I cannot load it since I installed CCleaner (which I gave up on, and un-installed), however it changed several settings and I am still unable to use the chat program, much to my annoyance. Any idea's? -- CJT |

Check to see how far back you go on System Restore
START | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | System Restore See if you can go back before using CCleaner. "CJT80" wrote in message ... To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Thank you.
Have you tried using System Restore, selecting a Restore Point which predates the install/first use of CCleaner? -- ~Robear Dyer (PA Bear) MS MVP-Windows (IE/OE, Security, Shell/User) CJT80 wrote: It came with Windows XP preinstalled, it had SP1 and then SP2 installed when they were released. I have tried but it will not go back that far... so I don't know what to do..
plus I have installed other things after it, so it would "uninstall" them? -- CJT "DGuess" wrote: Check to see how far back you go on System Restore START | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | System Restore See if you can go back before using CCleaner.
