I had been unable to turn off outbound email scanning In OE6
with NIS 2006. I needed to do this because of timeout issues for emails with large attachments. Hopefully this will save you time troubleshooting this problem: Make sure the following 3 items are disabled: 1) security 2) out bound email scanning 3) outbound training Specifically: 1) Bring up the NIS interface, click on NIS (2nd bar on left, under Norton Protection Center). Click security click "turn off". Select your duration. 2) Go to Options (on the top toolbar): Click NortonAntivirus, click email (under Internet), deselect scan outgoing email. Select your duration. 3) Go to Norton AntiSpam (4th bar on left, under Norton AntiSpam): Click outbound, click "turn off" Hope this saves you some time. Cheryl |

I like Norman's approach.
Go to Add / Remove Programs and click remove for anything there that is related to NIS. You will never imagine how fast and reliable your computer will become. steve "Cheryl King" wrote in message .net... I had been unable to turn off outbound email scanning In OE6 with NIS 2006. As you can see, these are directions for anyone
who runs into the same problem. Most likely they will search using the keywords in the post, and this solution will save them time. It's called knowledge exchange. It would be better if they just remove anything by Symantec from their
machines. steve "Cheryl King" wrote in message ink.net... As you can see, these are directions for anyone who runs into the same problem.
