Default Need To Re-install Outlook Express

First, try renaming the Folders.dbx file to Folders.old

If not, see http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=318378

I need to re-install outlook express because it has become corrupted.
I got a message saying that this is necessary. I'm unable to open any
e-mail that has been downloaded, cannot access contacts file and
cannot create any new e-mail. I'm running XP Pro and have all the
Microsoft CD's that came with my laptop. How do I start this process?
There are 7 CD's. Sorry if I may have double posted this on another
newsgroup.

Thanks,

Brian

Default Need To Re-install Outlook Express

Windows version?

Look in OE Help About Files list: What version of DIRECTDB.DLL is listed
here?

To keep track of things, it helps immensely if you include all of previous
message(s) in your replies to the newsgroup. Thank you.

Default Need To Re-install Outlook Express

1. Check in at Windows Update (WU) and install any WU-related software
offered.

2. Press the Continue button to scan for and install all critical update
offered. Follow all prompts & reboot if directed to do so.

3. Go to this MS Download Center page and download the file there, saving it
to your desktop:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...2-98af2256ccc3

4. Close any open OE windows (including OE itself and Address Book, if
open).

5. Double-click on the saved file to install it & reboot.

How are things now?
