Default Missing .dbx files.....

One file that shows up in my Defrag report as undefraggable is:

8 fragments---117 MB---\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local
Settings\Application
Data\Identities\{227C10DE-4724-45CC-9F1B-E3F4BF96781E}\Microsoft\Outlook
Express\Deleted Items.dbx

Problems:
1. My Delete box is empty, but the Defragger says it has 117MB.
2. I can't find Deleted Items.dbx in Windows Explorer because the entire
Local Settings Folder is missing!
3. A Search for Deleted Items.dbx turns up nothing.
4. There are 5 other undefraggable .dbx files. Can't find them either
because I don't have the Local Settings Folder which is supposed to contain
them.
5. A Search for *.dbx turns up empty.
6. Even though searches cannot find any .dbx files, I have lots of folders
in my OE and all have their emails and function fine.....

What's going on? I particularly would like to get rid of that 117MB
undefraggable Deleted Items file.....

I have 2KPro (NOT XP!) and OE 6. I am Administrator and the only one who
uses the computer.

Thanks for the help!
Janet

PS I checked View Hidden Files and got my Local Settings folder back...:-)....

I seem to have eight identities under Docs and SettingsAdministratorAppl
DataIdentities. All 8 folders are empty. Can I just delete them?

I have the same 8 identities under Docs and SettingsAdministratorLocal
SettingsAppl DataIdentities.
Six of them continue with MicrosoftOE and have .dbx files.
The first identity {227C10DE-4724-45CC-9F1B-E3F4BF96781E} has all my files
and a Deleted Items .dbx which is 120,249KB even though my Deleted Items box
in OE is empty.

Two identies have three .dbx files: Inbox, Offline, Outbox.

Two Identies have just 2 .dbx files: Inbox, Offline.

One Identity has 7 .dbx files: Deleted Items (59KB), Drafts, Inbox, New1,
Offline, Outbox, Sent Items.

Two identies have no folders or files at all.

1. Should I just delete all the identities in both places they appear apart
from the first with all my files/folders? Would I thus be in danger of
possibly losing files I need?
2. What's with the Deleted Items folder??

Much thanks,
Janet

While OE is closed delete the Deleted Items.dbx for that identity. If you
have no other identities in OE then delete those extra identities

I'm afraid there might be emails in the other identities' folders which I may
need (?). Is there an easy way to see what is in those folders before
deleting them?

I will do as you say about the Deleted Items folder, but was wondering out
of curiosity where all the undeleted emails are if they aren't in my Deleted
box....

Then move the Deleted Items.dbx to an empty Windows folder and get CBXtract
or DBXpress (www.oehelp.com) to extract the messages.

Don't store messages in OE's default folders. Create folders of your own
and move them there. Then use File | Folder | Compact All while Working
Offline.
