Default Edited Outbox.dbx file

Sorry, I started getting confused. I have not had an opportunity to follow
through with your instructions for disabling Email scanning and then proceed
with the other instructions tho I did try Bruce's steps to no avail. I will
be unable to get to this problem for a day or two but will surely let you
know the results when I do. I cannot thank you enough for your patience and
persistence.

Thank you for all your help. I resolved the problem by not resolving the
problem. I downloaded and installed Windows Live Mail which is a neat
program. I would have had to go thru a lot of trouble uninstalling and
reinstalling McAfee without email scanning if it could even be done and then
try to troubleshoot OE all over again. Now I am up and running and am able
to send with no problem.

Did you copy the entire message store folder, or just some selected dbx
files?

If you copied the entire folder, then you need to copy it to the Desktop
and then in a fresh OE identity, import the messages from there. Nothing
will work if you are trying to send from OE on a different drive.

I did a bad thing and edited the Outbox.dbx and by edit I mean deleted
everything in there. Now I cannot send mail. I get a "The message could
not
be sent. An error occured." I have renamed it old, so it can rebuild, I
have tried to restore my Store folder from a saved version on a jump
drive.
Nothing seems to work. Anyone have any ideas? Do I have to reinstall
Outlook Express? I would rather not if possible.

Did you copy the entire message store folder, or just some selected dbx
files?


I did both.....copied selected files and the whole message store folder
which by the way, I have someplace else rather than the default folder.

If you copied the entire folder, then you need to copy it to the Desktop
and then in a fresh OE identity, import the messages from there. Nothing
will work if you are trying to send from OE on a different drive.


I will follow these instructions again just to be sure.

close OE via Task Manager or shutdown your machine if Automatic
Compacting
is taking place.

problem. I downloaded and installed Windows Live Mail which is a neat
program. I would have had to go thru a lot of trouble uninstalling and
reinstalling McAfee without email scanning if it could even be done and

try to troubleshoot OE all over again. Now I am up and running and am
able
to send with no problem.
