The problem, which started earlier this year, is that a birthday for any
individual contact might appear multiple (2 to 4) times at the top of my
calendar on that respective date. (It makes no difference what view I use.)

Simetimes the references between contacts and their calendar items can get
lost so Outlook doesn't realize that there's already an even on the calendar
for that person. When it happens to me, I usually delete the older one and
the newest one usually is fairly stable. I find that synching a hand-held
device and making changes on the device exacerbates the problem on occasion.
