How do I get alerts from a calendar I created in the Public Folder

Default How do I get alerts from a calendar I created in the Public Folder

I use microsoft exchange server and windows xp. I created a calendar in
Public Folders to share with colleagues but can not recieve alerts from it
because "the item does not appear in your Calendar or Tasks folder." Please
advise.
