Default It will not let me set appointments-grayed out!!!

My calendar will not let me set appointments. If I click and type directly
into the calendar then I get an error message saying that it cannot save. I
tried clicking on file & going to new but appointments is grayed out!! What
is going on?!

does this happen after you restart outlook? did you activate outlook?

recent versions of outlook need activated to work past a trial time.
