Default Automatic Formatting Appointments

Do the appointments have categories? Even if no color is assigned to a
category, if it has a category automatic formatting won't apply.

In Outlook 2003 I could Label appointments using colors. I have tried to
use
the automatic formatting in Outlook 2007 but only a few if any of the
appointments will become colored. An example of my usual appointment has
"1
Smith" in the Subject space. When I do the auto formatting, I click add
and
choose a name and color. I then click condition and in the Appointment
Page
put "Smith" in the Search for the word: field and then choose "Subject
field
only" for the In: Field. The calendar does go back for several years and
is
updated monthly. There are at least 2 appointments like the above for
each
day. No other times or information is included in the appointment. Am I
missing something or has something changed in 2007. I also removed all
the
colors associated with categories so that would not interfere.
