I have been battling this for 4 weeks.
Outlook crashes every single time I attempt to open calendar view. I am using echange server account from work on both desktop and laptop. Both started crashing after a series of specific actions on my part. One day I decided to make my life easier, with help of my new Outlook 2007. On my desktop I have generated several new appointments, marked them with multiple categories. Marked some of those private, and generated a new view, where private appointments are not shown. That is where the fun stopped. My laptop (recall that I was working on desktop) had outlook running as well. I have clicked on clanedar, and it crashed. When I exited desktop's calendar and attmpted to re-enter again, outlook crashed. It continues to crash every time on both machines. What gives? Possible causes: Private appointments? multiple categories per appointment? customized view? The first two items would be stored on the server, which would explain why laptop started crashing as well. I have removed "private" using active sync and my mobile. Now working through removing multiple categories as well. Clearly this is a bug. Any ideas? I have: repaired office, created a new profile, same results. |

Milly,
thank you for your reply. I honestly don't know what you are referring to. Is it some small utility option Office has? Milly, You are my savior -- just ran "Outlook /cleanviews" -- I am back in
business with calendar! Now, how is it possible that something like that is not described in help files for outlook? What if I didn't know that I may have had an issue with custom view? Just frustrating... Thank you again, Kyryl "Kyryl" wrote: Milly, thank you for your reply. I honestly don't know what you are referring to. Is it some small utility option Office has? I'm having the same problem except using the cleanviews switch doesn't work.
In fact I don't think the switches are workingin any instance. I have no problem accessing the exchange calender from outlook web access or entourage 2008. It is only Outlook 2007. I have no plugins etc. ANy way of fiding otu why the switches won't work either? "Kyryl" wrote: Milly, You are my savior -- just ran "Outlook /cleanviews" -- I am back in business with calendar! I'm having the exact same problem with Outlook 2007. After reading this
thread, I run cleanviews, and it worked. However, the problem keeps occurring after moving around a bit in the calendar. Running cleanviews always work to fix the problem, but it's not a good solution doing this several times a day. Is there a way to find out what causes the crash? Try the forms cache go in and wipe out the entire bunch.
Deleting the Forms Cache File: The Frmcache.dat file is the primary file to delete. The Frmcache.dat file serves as an index of the individual forms that have been cached on the computer. Use the following steps to manually delete the Frmcache.dat file. In addition, these steps delete all of the cached forms on your computer, which are stored in subfolders of the Forms folder. 1.. Quit Outlook. 2.. Search the Hard drive (F3) to locate the Frmcache.dat file. (Be sure to check in HIDDEN files on W2K or WXP.) 3.. Delete all that are found from the FIND window. 4.. Open Outlook. When you restart Outlook, and use a form, the forms cache is re-created. If you already tried this, I would suggest looking for a corrupt OST file: I would look into a possible synchronization problem or a corrupt OST file. You could try renaming the OST file with a .OLD extension. (This is to preserve the info, just in case) This needs to be done while Outlook is closed. Then when you open Outlook it will rebuild the OST file fresh. Depending on the size of the mailbox, it could take a bit of time for Outlook to build a new one. 1.. Quit Outlook. 2.. Search the Hard drive (F3) to locate the *.ost file. (Be sure to check in HIDDEN files on W2K or WXP.) 3.. Delete all that are found from the FIND window. 4.. Open Outlook. When you restart Outlook, and use a form, the forms cache is re-created. Lastly, This usually screams "Corrupted Recurring Meeting". Here's what I used to do, there is probably something easier out there but I haven't needed it for a while. To detect the offending item: 1) Open the mailbox in Outlook 2) Create a New folder (Calendar Test) 3) Do an advanced find on the old calendar and sort events by recurrence. - Press F3 - Change the Look For: text box to Appointments and Meetings - Click on the Advanced tab - Click Field - Select All Appointment fields - Select Recurring - Condition: equals - Value: Yes - Click the Add to List button - Click Find Now Drop and drag from advanced find listed events one at a time to the new calendar, when you get to the corrupt item it will give you an error message. (delete this item) Move all your calendar items from Calendar Test folder back to original calendar (these are previously dragged over items). Nikki "Ampy" wrote in message ...
