After furious head scratching, Sprinks asked:

| Today I opened a Contact in a shared contact file in a public folder.
| I called the number which was disconnected. I went to a colleague's
| office who I knew had the number and asked him to post it the shared
| contact record. After returning to my office, after he'd made the
| change, I mistakenly hit "Save and Close", which is my regular habit,
| rather than the Close button.

| This caused a message to be broadcast internally from the "Public
| Folder Store" that alarmed several coworkers in our virus-sensitive
| environment.

| It seems to me that the message need only be sent to those involved
| in the conflict so that they can resolve it. Does anyone know if
| there is a setting that will make it operate this way, or know of
| another solution?
