Outlook should allow changes to a predefined style

Of course Outlook allows this.

Tools--Options--Mail Format--Fonts button.

You can set up font and colours for the different messages (new, reply).
Does this do it?

create a new distribution list using existing list

I think that essentially 'renames' the distribution list.

You might try opening the old distribution list. Then select File--Copy to
Folder
Select the same contacts folder and ok.

Then it should...

That's a familiar date to me. I would check the system time/date and the
CMOS time/date. Are they ok?

Of course if this is the system you are using right now, it's probably ok.

2) OE is not really and enterprise messaging solution. While it may work on
a network drive (at least prior to XP sp2)...

Turn of autoarchive, remove extend.dat?

you can delete it if you want. outlook will recreate it. :-)

It is 'a binary file that caches the registry extension entries.'

How do I configure OL2003 without having access to Exchange Server

If you need to read an existing .pst file, you don't really need to
configure anything in Outlook.

File--Open--Outlook Data File and navigate to the .pst.

If it is asking for a password when you try to send an email, perhaps it is
your ISP's outgoing mail server asking for authentication to send.
