Default Reading Digital Signatures - Outlook 2003

We are writing an app that must read the digital signature in a signed
e-mail. Specifically, we need to read the "EDIPI" value associated with the
certificate. So far, the app is able to instantiate a MailItem object for
each item in the in-box. But, I do not see how to examine the digital
signature in the item itself. What are my options? Thank you.
