Default How to sync a 'distribution list' group into an iPhone?

I just bought an iPhone and it won't sync my distribution list groups? It
will sync individual contacts but not the 'groups'! Any help would be
appreciated.
thanks

Not an Outlook issue. Ask Apple.

Russ,
Strange you should say that because Apple says it is an OUTLOOK issue! Which
is why I asked the question on this forum in the first place. I guess it is
easier to blame someone else versus solving the problem, which is what seems
to be happening, a catch 22 conundrum.
The Apple person said they know nothing about OUTLOOK but if it were a Mac I
guess they'd know.
Is there someone that knows OUTLOOK that can answer my question instead of
telling me to ask it somewhere else? Any help would be appreciated.

Robert

Sadly, it is not an Outlook issue. Sync issues never are. Outlook does not
participate in and has no control over synchronization routines. Apple has
blown you off.

Did you call support or check in the apple forums? Outlook is just the data
provider - something else handles the sync and that is where the problem
lies.

Apple's iPhone forum for Mail, Calendar and Contact issues is at

Default How to sync a 'distribution list' group into an iPhone?

There is one very simple question to ask the provider (Apple) of the sync
software....

Does the Sync software handle item types with the IPM.DistList message
class? Answer is a simple Yes or No. Either way - it's the sync
software that has the problem.

There are 2 kinds of items found in a contact folder. Contact items that
have or start with a message class of IPM.Contact and distribution list
items which have a message class of IPM.Distlist. If the software that
processes a contact folder does not deal with IPM.Distlist items - only the
provider of that software (Apple) can resolve the issue - not a single thing
that can be done via Outlook.

My guess is that Apple's sync software is filtering the contact folder
on the message class and only dealing with IPM.Contact related items.

Just to add to my previous response, in researching something else ran
across information indicating that the IPhone contact software does not
support/use distribution lists in general so the sync issue is a moot
point - nothing to do with Outlook (am not an iPhone owner so no first hand
knowledge - and to be clear - reference is to distribution lists and not
groups - two entirely different things).

If the above is accurate then the Apple person's knowledge of their own
product(s) equals what they said they knew of Outlook.
