I made up a new contact list for a course I am teaching. However, when
I start a new email and click on "To" or type in the name of one of the students in the class, Outlook cannot find the name, nor can it see anyone in this new list. Under "My Contacts" I see "Contacts" and "Contact CourseX" (contains the new contacts). But I can't see the contacts in Contact CourseX when I click on "To." Thanks for your help. I assume by "contact list" you meant a separate Contacts Folder. If so, have
you enabled this folder as an email address book in its properties? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "resonator80" wrote in message ... I made up a new contact list for a course I am teaching. Thanks very much--that worked.
Here is another thing that has bothered me for some time. When I click on "To" etc, I get the list in a contact folder in order of first names, even though the folder itself has names in order of last name. Is there a way to have the displayed list, and selection, on the last names under these circumstances? The method to sort the address book view depends on your version, which you
did not post. Depending on your version and mail support mode of Outlook, you can sort the Outlook Address Book this way: 98/2000 in Corporate/Workgroup mode: Tools menu Services Highlight the Outlook Address Book service Click Properties Set sort order 98/2000 Internet Mail Only: Tools menu Address Book View menu Sort by Outlook 2002/2003: Go to Tools E-mail accounts View or change existing directories or address books Outlook Address Book Change. Set your sort order there Outlook 2007: Go to Tools Account Settings Address Book Tab Outlook Address Book Change... Set sort order there Note that your options are only to sort by "First, Last" or by "File As." So if you want your Outlook Address Book to sort by "Last, First," or by "Company" you must have your Contacts' File As fields configured that way. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "resonator80" wrote in message ... I have Office 2003, and your suggestion worked.
