Default Disappearing Groups

Outlook 2007

I like to sort my contacts into groups using the 'add New Group' function.

I have two groups both with two categories of contacts in. Occassionally
these groups disappear. All the contacts move back to the original My
contacts group in their relevant categories but to view them I then need to
GoFolder and expand Contacts and then recreate the groups again.

It is very intermitent and I can't identify what is causing it. Any ideas
how I stop this from happening?

Err why not just use Categories in the main Contacts folder and view
them by Category?

Well I only like updating certain contacts on to my Iphone and I can do this
by picking specific groups to sync with.

That's not what those groups are. They are for collecting folders together,
not items within a folder.

Default Disappearing Groups

Hi Brian

In the 'groups' I have created using 'Add New Group' I have 2 folders (just
checked properties). Each folder contains contact details ie. all suppliers
or all customers.

Occasionally the new groups disappear and the folders are then back in the
original My Contacts, Contacts folder.

that means your navigation pane is getting reset when you close outlook.
Outlook is probably not closing completely - check in task manager,
processes tab for outlook.exe a few min after you close it.

Thanks Diane I'll do that tonight. What's the solution if this is the case?

Starting outlook with the /resetnavpane switch may work (but will remove all
customizations from the favorite folder list etc) otherwise you will need to
figure out why its not closing properly - once it closes properly the
navigation pane will save.
