Hello
A customer has Outlook 2007 (not an Exchange client). When she attempts to delete a contact from her Address Book List she receives a dialogue with the following message: "Some names cannot be deleted from the address list. The action cannot be completed." This is a standalone computer receiving POP mail. The contacts were imported from OE6 originally although I hardly think that could be the cause? I theorise that the contacts are somehow protected from being deleted although I can't find a setting in Outlook to define this. Anybody know why this might be hapenning? Richard |

The Address Book interface should never be used for manipulating contacts. If they want to delete a contact, then should open their Contacts folder and delete it. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |

Hi Brian
Thankyou for your reply, however this has not answered my question. I realise it may not be good contact management, however the choice to delete is in the right click context menu of all contacts in the list. However some can be deleted and some are denied. Why? Already answered. The address book view is not and never has been an
appropriate interface for Contact management. The option exists because this interface has not been updated or corrected since Outlook was first developed. It is a relic. Do not use it. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Richard" wrote in message ... Hi Brian Thankyou for your reply, however this has not answered my question.
