My contact list contains no duplcates but when i do a search of a contact, it
shows 2 or sometimes four of that contact. If I delete one, it deletes all. If I look in my master list of all contacts though, there are no duplicates. Any ideas what is causing this? |

There is no information here that would permit an answer. To what search
method and to what version of Outlook are you referring? Be specific and provide details please. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "DYGIT" wrote in message ... Sorry - Office Outlook 2007. As far as the search method - I am referring to
using the search box in contacts that says "search all contact items" . "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: There is no information here that would permit an answer. Sigh Try again please, remembering my plea for you to be specific and
provide details. My view of Contacts has no such box. I wonder what view you are using? Remember. We aren't there and we can't read minds. State every steps you are using to conduct the search and the outcome of said search. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "DYGIT" wrote in message ... Sorry - Office Outlook 2007. OK - I'll try again.....go into Outlook 2007, click on contacts lower left
field " mail, calender, contacts, tasks" which brings up all contacts. Then go to upper right search box which says "search all contact items". Then I enter a search string....I get multiple listings for numerous contacts. Is that clear? As I stated before, when I look at ALL contacts, those duplicates do not exist.......... There is no more information here. The search string you are entering exists
several times in your index. Only you would know why. There is no information here that allows us to tell you. Remember, your index will contain entries from every Contacts Folder in your profile, not just the one that displays. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "DYGIT" wrote in message ... I see what you are saying but for instance, there are 2 places only where
the name S. Reich appears in 2 different contact lists. When I search as described previously, I get 4 identical contacts showing up. This problem is new - I have had computers for 20+ years and am not a newbie....I cut my teeth on a Commodore 64.......I do not understand your answer of "The search string you are entering exists several times in your index. Only you would know why"......... "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: There is no more information here. The search string you are entering exists several times in your index. Don't forget that you are searching your index when you use Instant Search
as your modality, not your Contacts Folder. Not all Contact fields are indexed well or reliably. Use the dropdown to see which fields those are and only search those fields with Instant Search. Try rebuilding your index. For more predictable results, use Advanced Find, not Instant Search. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "DYGIT" wrote in message ... I have the similar problem and mo
I get duplicate items when I search for contacts, emails, files! Not only that, search gives me incorrect & spotty results as well i.e., either the item containing the searched word does not show up or items that do not contain the searched word show up in the results. I cannot rely on search anymore! "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Don't forget that you are searching your index when you use Instant Search as your modality, not your Contacts Folder. No one could help with so little information.
Search works fine when configured correctly. We have no idea to which search method you are referring, let alone your Outlook version or view. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "aduser" wrote in message ...
