Russ,
I am the fellow who posted a question a few days ago about distribution lists that were NOT stored inside the contacts folders. I wrote that I had created two that I could see in the Navigation Pane, but that I couldn't figure out how I did it and wanted to know because it was very useful to me at work. You wrote back that no one on your end knew how. I managed to figure it out: 1. Click Contacts in the Nav. Pane. 2. Select "Contacts" under "My Contacts." 3. "New" drop down menu, select "Folder." This creates a new folder that will be seen whenever the Navigation Pane is opened with "Contacts" (that is, the Contacts button at the bottom of the Nav. Pane, with "Mail," "Calendar," etc.) 4. Click on the new folder. It opens with this message: There are no items to show in this view. Dbl-click here to create a new Contact. 5. Do NOT dbl-click; RIGHT CLICK. The option comes up to make this new folder a DL. Choose DL, and the new folder becomes a DL outside the Contacts folder in My Contacts and is visible every time you open Contacts in the Nav. Pane. This is very useful for someone like me, who needs to create many temporary DL lists that need updating frequently before ultimately discarding. Best wishes, -- William |

You have just explained that you made a New Contacts Folder and it was empty
(to start with) then you made a DL inside that Folder. Have a look at the Navigation Pane on the left side of Outlook and change it to show Folder List. That's the only way to see an actual heirarchical view of the Folders you have made in Outlook. You will find that there's a PLUS button beside the Contacts Folder and when you click it, there are your sub-folders made exactly as you very clearly described to us. You've got it doing exactly what we expect it to do. As I said before, you are still confusing Contact Folder groups in the Nav
pane with DL's. Of course you can create a new Contact Folder and have it display in the Nav pane. And you can create a DL within that or any other Contact Folder. What you can't do is create a DL and have it display in the Nav pane. That was what you claimed to have done and what I knew was impossible. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "William" wrote in message ...
