Default Transferring Contacts to Outlook 2007 from 2002 sp3?

I have just got Office 2007 and want to transfer my Contacts from
Outlook 2002 sp3. I have looked at the options for exporting and I am
not sure which format to use. Could anyone help? If there is an easier
way than exporting and importing into 2007 I would like to know how it
is done. The new Outlook 2007 is on a new computer in case that is a
problem!

Thanks
DD

Do NOT use the "import/Export" function when transferring data between
Outlook versions. Why?

Courtesy of Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]"

Here's why. Importing PST's will lose:
1. Custom Forms
2. Custom Views
3. Connections between contacts and activities
4. Received dates on mail
5. Birthdays and anniversaries in calendar
6. Journal connections
7. Distribution Lists

Opening a PST file will preserve all of these. That is why we do not advise
using the import/export function.

Copy the file from the CD to your HDD. Do NOT overwrite any existing file.
Remove the Read-Only attribute.
Then Open Outlook and do File-Open-Outlook Data File, and navigate to where
you saved the file. Either copy, or drag and drop, your data from the old
file to the new. When done, close the old file from within Outlook.

Thanks for the quick answer, unfortunately when I tried to drag and
drop the file into the Open Outlook Data File window,I got an error to
tell me that there already was a file with the same name and offering
the option to replace it. This did not seem to follow the instructions
you gave but I clicked on 'Yes' to replace the existing file but then I
got an error to say that the program was being used and I needed to
close it and try again.
I am obviously doing something wrong! Could you please elaborate on
your instructions to describe how I should "...copy or drag and drop the
new file into the Open Outlook Data file window and how to close the old
file from within Outlook".
Your interest is much appreciated, sorry I have had to get back with a
problem that must appear very basic to you...

Thanks,

DD

Not sure what you did there. You did open outlook and do File-Open-Outlook
Data File and open the copied file?

Again, not sure what you mean by "the Open Outlook Data File Window"
Open the file by going to File-Open-Outlook Data File. That should give you
TWO sets of Personal Folders.
Click on Contacts and you should see TWO sets of contacts. Open the second
one, select View by category, select All, and drag that selected list onto
the first contact list
