......thanks a lot.
I really do appreciate your help........Tommy.......

The Outlook address book contains no data. It is simply a dynamic view of
the electronic addresses that reside in your Contacts Folders. If you click
on "Outlook Address Book" in that view it should appear empty. Below it you
will see every Contact Folder you have enabled for display, and in those you
will see your electronic addresses.

Hi Russ.

I'm very sorry for my stupidity!
I just found out that I had to cange the setting in here (see screenshot)
which I though I've allready done.
But it seems that this wasn't the case.

Now I got it working the way I wanted to.
Thanks a lot for your patience, otherwise I would've give up allready.
One more thing, what's the difference between the contacts and the Outlook
Address Book because my Outlook Address Book is empty, there are only my
contacts.

Thanks again very much.

All the best,
Tommy

It does work.
Your claim is that when you set the Outlook Address Book to sort by the
File
As field, it doesn't?
It does for everyone else. The first column is called "Name" and what
appears in it is what you have set as the File As... field for each
Contact.

Hi Russ.

I tried it all but it wont work because the address book lists all the
entries by name and not by "File As" that's why I wonder what the "File
As"option is for anyway.
Seems like it can't be done but if you come up with something that
allows
me
to have all the entries listed by "File As" and not only by name please
let
me know.

Thanks again very much for trying to help,
Tommy

By now I'm sure you have discovered what the sort options are for the
Outlook Address Book:
First, Last or
File As...
Accordingly, changing the Email Display As field is useless for
sorting
the
Outlook Address Book. Change the File As... field to what you want and
sort
by the File As.. field.

Hi Russ.

Here are 2 screenshots of what I'm talking about.

http://www.tommys-service-enterprise...e/Capture1.JPG

http://www.tommys-service-enterprise...e/Capture2.JPG

In the 1st screenshot you can see that I have Christopher Jones -
Display
As
= Amulet Chris U.K. and File As = Amulet Chris U.K.
In the 2nd screenshot you see that when I try to find the contact
while
sending an e-mail he is filed as Christopher Jones and not like I
wanted
to
as Amulet Chris U.K.
Is this possible what I'm trying to do or not?

Thanks again very much,
Tommy

Apparently your question is how to reconfigure the File As.. field
for
your
existing Contacts? Is that what you are trying to ask?

Hi Russ.

Thanks again.
I thought you are talking about another configuration.
This I tried before but it doesn't bring the result.
What I don't understand is what the option "Display As" and "File
As"
is
for
if it still won't file the contacts as I told them to.
Looks like it can't be done .

Thanks for your help,
Tommy

Hi Russ.

Thanks for your reply.
Could you please tell me where to configure this sort order
for
the
address
book?

Thanks again,
Tommy

The only configurable option in the Outlook Address Book is
the
sort
order.

Hi.

Is it possible to file contacts in order to send an e-mail
and
click
the
"To" button to find the contact and the list of contacts
will
not
have
the
"Name" of the contacts in the 1st columns but the "Display
Name"
instead.
Because this can be confusing if you got a lot of contacts
and
the
"Display
Name" is in the 2nd column and not alphabetically listed.
I mean that’s ok if someone knows the name but sometimes I
have a
nickname
or company names and while creating the contact I choose to
“File
As”
and
“Display As” but when writing an e-mail the list starts
always
with
the
“Name”
Also the search function didn't work if I enter the
"Display
Name"
to
search
for.
Please give me a hand here if it is possible to configure
the
contacts
the
way I want it.

Thanks in advance,
Tommy
