"The Contacts folder could not be found."
Some users are reporting that when they right-click on an email address from
a message they've received and select "add to Outlook contacts" they receive the following message: "cannot perform the requested operation. The command selected is not valid for this recipient. Unable to add receipients to contacts. The contacts folder could not be found." They also get the message "The contacts folder could not be found." when attempting to create a new distribution list. Any suggestions? -- Joe Grispi |

Make sure the Outlook Address Book is configured correctly. Sounds like the
link to its underlying Contacts Folder has become corrupt. If so, remove the reference to the Contacts Folder and add back the correct one. Method depends on your version, which you did not post. I'm sure you can figure it out. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Joe Grispi" wrote in message ... Sorry, we are using Outlook 2003 in an Exchange 2003 environment. If you
could provide the method, or post a link to the instructions, I'd appreciate it! Thanks. -- Joe Grispi "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Make sure the Outlook Address Book is configured correctly. Sounds like the link to its underlying Contacts Folder has become corrupt. Just remove the Outlook address book service from the profile, restart
Outlook, and add it back, making sure the Contacts Folder has been enabled as an email address book. Restart Outlook again. http://support.microsoft.com/default...Product=ol2002 -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Joe Grispi" wrote in message ... Hi Russ. Unfortunately, that didn't work. I'm still getting that same error
message. This error follows the affected users no matter what pc they create a profile for their mailbox on. They CAN add names manually to their contacts folder. Any other thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated. -- Joe Grispi "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: Just remove the Outlook address book service from the profile, restart Outlook, and add it back, making sure the Contacts Folder has been enabled as an email address book. Sounds like an Exchange issue, then. Tried an Exchange group?

If a completely new profile fails to fix the problem, I'm afraid Outlook is
mostly out of the picture at that point. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Joe Grispi" wrote in message ... No, but I'll try there.
