Default Can a delegate export a contact list?

I have a user who is a delegate (contacts only) for a VP. The user wants to
export the VPs contact list so that she can create labels for holiday cards.
When she's viewing the cVPs contacts and selects File, Import and Export, the
contacts she ends up exporting are her own. Is it possible for her to export
the VPs contacts from her own machine? Or does she have to do this on the
VPs Outlook account? We're running Outlook 2003 on an Exchange 2003 server.

Why export at all? She can go to the VP's Contacts folder and use the Tools | Mail Merge command to create labels.

it's not so easy to get onto the VPs computer...she was hoping she could do
this without having to coordinate with his schedule

She doesn't have to go to his computer if she's a delegate and has access to that folder. She can open it on her machine.

Sue - I'm sorry, I totally missed your point in your initial response. When
you said mail merge, I immediately thought Word independent of Outlook. With
your last reply I understood your suggestion for merging directly from the
VPs contacts. Thanks so much for your help! I do appreciate it!

Default Can a delegate export a contact list?

Hello - We are working on a project that will require staff to export their
contacts to an Access database (for import into a CRM application). I'm
confident that our secretaries with delegate rights will be asked to complete
this process for their bosses. Is there a work around for this other than a
copy and paste of the bosses contacts into a sub-contact folder in the
secretaries contacts list? No shared folders are displayed for selection in
the Import and Export dialog box.

Thank you,

Mail merge, as I said, would be a possibility. The other methods would be to write code or possibly use a third-party tool; see http://www.outlookcode.com/d/database.htm#tools. Frankly, I'd recommend going the code export route across the board rather than depend on staff to populate the database.

we don't have the type of personnell who can do code work - how can we export
the lists to use in another application from the delegates? mail merge won't
create an excel spreadsheet with just the contact info - i want the contacts,
not lables or letters....

I am on the same track as "gail99" - I want the Excel spreadsheet. Writing
code isn't an option for me.
