export Outlook contacts to Express 6

Rather I can pick from 'Comma Separated Values (windows)', 'Microsoft Excel', 'Personal Folder File ..pst', etc. Clicking on any one of these causes Outlook to get stuck, fail to do anything, and I am forced to end the program and bring it back up again. Am I doing something wrong?

Now I highlight the file I want to export (it's actually in the folder list) hit export, select Comma-Separated Value and then it does gets stuck and will not let me cancel. I must eventually get out of Outlook and start over. Any suggestions from anyone?
