Default How to correct an incorrect entry?

Hi all,

One of my users is having a strange issue in Outlook. The address for
one of his contacts was originally typed incorrectly. We tried
correcting the address through both Contacts and the Address Book.
While the correction looks fine, Outlook still uses the incorrect
address. So, we deleted the contact completely. However, typing the
name in a new Outlook email message, still gives us the wrong address.

Has anybody seen this before? How do I completely remove an email
address from Windows/Outlook so that I can enter the correct address?

Thanks,
Tracey

What you are seeing is probably the autocompletion which is a cache of
recently used names. It can have a name in it that you used once, that is
not in Contacts and it will remember it forever!

Get rid of wrong names and ones you don't want by using the down arrow in
the To... field till you highlight it, then hit Delete.

Please post your version next time you have a question.

Thanks Judy.

This is Outlook 2000, Service Pack 3. I don't seem to have
autocompletion. Or more to the point, there's no drop down list in my
To field.

This morning, I get an actual error message now that the entry has been
removed from Contacts and Address Book. It says "The name or
distribution list has been deleted and is no longer a valid Address
Book entry."

So I added the contact again with the correct email address. Same
problem! Very odd. I still get the error message.

Thanks Judy.

I have that link as well. I already have Service Pack 3 however. I'll
post back here if I find my way out of this one.

Thanks,
Tracey
