Default Contact 'Dispaly as' field

When I add a new contact in Outlook 2003, the 'Display as' field is filled
in by default in the following format:

Mike Smith )

...but without the underlining.

The email address in brackets is automatically appended to the contact's
name. This is OK, but it would be much more useful to me to have the
contact's name display as:

Mike Smith, Mikescompany

or

Mike Smith (Mikescompany)

I know I can edit each contact manually (which is way too much trouble), but
if there was a way I could get Outlook to do this by default it would be
much better.

No, Outlook doesn't have a default setting for that.
