When I installed the latest Messenger, it gave me the option of installing
something called 'Outlook Connector', which I accepted. I now see my msn email address listed in the folders view, but when I click on it, I get an error saying 'The set of folders could not be opened'. I already had MSN set up to work with outlook (can't remember how or when), but installing connector seems to have disabled that (I can still see the folders, but they no longer update). So, in summary, installing connector has broken my ability to read my msn mail. Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution? |

You need to configure outlook to signin to your msn account in order to
access your folders from outllook. you can find all the instructions here; http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...8231033.aspx#2 I have installed the connector and have full access to 3 different MSN email accounts. This is in place of the POP3 access that you had previously used with outlook. On a side note, the junk email folder does not synch properly. When you empty the Junk Email folder from outlook, the messeges stay on the MSN email server. YOu need to log into the MSN account from a web browser and empty the folder from there. This used to work correctly from Outlook, but recent upgrades have siable this. I hope they fix it someday. Thank you for the reply Ron
I was previously accessing MSN from within outlook through some other non-POP3 means that MS was supplying. I can't tell you more because that setup was apparently removed by the connector installer, and replaced with this new method. Unfortunately though - it doesn't work. I have verified all the settings that the installer presumably migrated from the previous setup. The email, password, etc are all correct, but I still get this error message. The error details give me ID: 10056, source: OfficeErrorMessages, Version: 11.0 -also 'Currently there are no Office Assistance articles available for this error message.' (I am using outlook 2003) -Adrian "RockerRon" wrote: You need to configure outlook to signin to your msn account in order to access your folders from outllook. you can find all the instructions here; http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/ou...8231033.aspx#2 I have installed the connector and have full access to 3 different MSN email accounts. Does anyone have a link to the old method of getting msn to work with outlook, so I can get it working again? |

Hi Brian,
I have a similar problem. I have 29 folders in Hotmail + the usual suspects; Inbox, Junk email etc. :-) I have just installed Connector. In Outlook 2003 I get my full list of folders in the LHS Navigation Panel. But in only 3 of the 29 can I read the contents. The rest are blank. If I click on a folder that has content and then Properties/Folder Size I get a Total size 'in so many' KB. If I click on a folder where no images show and do the same, I get 0KB. When in Outlook I 'see' an incoming Hotmail email and it is filtered into the correct Hotmail folder. But, if it is filtered into a blank folder only that email shows - the rest of the folders' content is still invisible to me in Outlook. If into a folder where I can see the contents, it is fine. All the messages are visible. If I go back into Hotmail I can read all previous messages as normal. Regards, XP SP3 All updates "Brian Tillman [MVP - Outlook]" wrote: "Adrian" wrote in message ... Does anyone have a link to the old method of getting msn to work with outlook, so I can get it working again? On one of my PCs I was using an HTTP account for my Live mailbox. I installed the connector, but didn't want to us it at the time. I deleted the account, uninstalled the cponnector, and re-added the HTTP account. It worked again as it had before installing the connector. -- Brian Tillman [MVP-Outlook] |
