Default Outlook.pst is not compatible when I move to new system

Had system crash and bought new system. Outlook PST was on data drive which
is accessible to new system. Same version of office on new and old system,
yet get the message that Outlook.pst is not compatible with this version of
the Personal Folders information service.

I have 10 years worth of folders and email records here that I MUST access

What version of Outlook are you using? Also, have you applied all the
appropriate patches to the new system?

I just installed officeXP and let system update the office files through
microsoft update. Used whatever patches were automatically suggested. I
paid no attention on original system to what specific patches were installed
over time, just used those that Update would suggest. Does this answer the
question?
