Default Installed Outlook and cannot recieve or send

just installed outlook, was using outlook express, disabled it, entered all
info in new mail accounts in outlook, it will not work. A window pops up
asking for my user name and password. checked my user name and password, they
are correct. reentered all info and tried again, no go, same window pops up.
any help would be appreciated!
