Default Writing HTML Emails - Font coming out wrong size?

Using Outlook 2002 and 2003.

When composing emails in HTML using Verdana font - My users select size 8
and it comes out as 7.5 even though it shows size 8 as the current Font.

This has become an issue as our Coroprate Style states that all signatures
should be done in size 8 verdana.

Why using Outlook 2007 it doesn't have this problem - it however puts spaces
between the lines!!

Cheers
Scott

Default Writing HTML Emails - Font coming out wrong size?

Hi Scott,

#1 the font size comes out as 7.5 even though it shows size 8 as the current Font in Outlook 2002/2003
--------------------------
It may be caused that the Zoom setting is not 100%. Follow the steps below to set Zoom as 100% and test the issue again.

1. In the email window, click the View menu Zoom.
2. Set the Zoom as 100%. Click OK. What is the result?

#2 it puts spaces between the lines in Outlook 2007
---------------------
It is mostly related to the default paragraph setting in the Outlook 2007 email editor. Perform the steps below.

1. In the email window, click the Format Text ribbon click the Paragraph button to show the paragraph dialog box.
2. In the Spacing field, change the settings as you want. Such as single line spacing.
3. Click the Default button Click Yes to confirm it. Click OK.
Test the issue in Outlook 2007. What is the result?

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Emily Lin

Default Writing HTML Emails - Font coming out wrong size?

Hi Emily,

I maybe should have provided more details in my question!!

It turns out that it's not just Verdana, it's all Fonts. This isn't user
specific, it's happening on all of my users Outlook Clients.

When composing an email using the Outlook mail editor using RTF, then Font
is definetly size 8. If you open start a new mail and compose using HTML as
the format, the Font is definetly smaller although it does say it's
composing in size 8. It's when you copy and paste the text from each email
into MS word you can see that the mail composed in RTF is size 8 and the one
composed in HTML is size 7.5.

When sending emails internally this isn't a problem as everyone is using
RTF. Outlook is set to convert to HTML when sending to Internet Recipients,
so when sending to clients etc, the font gets downgraded to 7.5.

I notice that there is some font sizes not available when composing in HTML.
I'm starting to get the impression that anything below size 10 in HTML ends
up as 7.5 unless using RTF. When using 2007 however the email comes out as
size 8 on the other end - which is correct. I however am the only person
using 2007 in the organisation!!

In regards to the spaces, I have played around with all the paragraph types
and even though the lines are together when composing the message - they end
up with spaces when they come out on the other end. I found something that
pressing Return means new Paragraph, rather than new line and that pressing
Shift + Enter resolves that issue. However trying to get users to remember
that one could be tricky.

Cheers
Scott

Default Writing HTML Emails - Font coming out wrong size?

Hi Scott,

#1 Font size in Outlook 2003
----------------
Yes, the same situation occurs on my end when composing an email using the Outlook mail editor. When using the Word as email editor,
the font size is shown correctly. If possible, please use Word 2003 as the email editor to work around this issue.

#2 Line spaces
-----------------
Yes, pressing Enter means new Paragraph. Pressing Shift+Enter means new Line.

As your customer would like to press Enter to get a new line, would you please set the paragraph spacing instead? In the Spacing field
in the paragraph dialog box, set After as 0pt, Before as 0pt. Thus, a new paragraph will not get extra spaces.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Emily Lin,
