I was using the trial version of Office 2007 and didn't attend if lately. I
downloaded all my emails into Outlook and hoped, I would have time to
transfer the .pst file if decided not to continue with '07.
One day without any previous warning I started my Outlook in the limited
features mode. It doesn't allow me to activate on-line or even enter
another temporary activation code.
I tried to transfer .pst file to another computer with Outlook XP, or
Outlook 2007 installed, but with no success. The file was not recognized. I
guess it has to come out as product of "file export" command.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Do not use the Export command. Copy the data from the Outlook 2007 .pst
file to an Outlook 97-2002 .pst file (I don't know if the expired trial
software will let you do this though), and then open the latter in
Outlook 2002. See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=830336 "The .pst
file has a different format and folder size limit in Outlook 2007 and in
Outlook 2003" for more information.

G&O - the expired trial will not let the OP create the older .pst file format - the OP will need to find a friend who has Outlook 2007 who can create the file and then drag and drop the OPs 2007 unicode .pst file contents into the older one.

Or, the OP could download and install a Virtual PC (Free) and then get another trial and then convert.

Hi Milly,

thanks for your expert answer. However, I am not familiar with the couple of
terms you are using. What is OP, G&O?
I do have a friend who has Outlook 2007 installed, but do not know how can I
create an unicode .pst and do the draging and dropping of the OPs into the
older one?

OP = "original poster"
G&O = "garfield-n-odie", the poster who replied to your original post before

If you were using the trial version of OL 2007, chances are your PST is
already in Unicode format. Copy the PST to some transfer medium, like CD or
memory stick and take it to your friend's house. Have him/her move it to
some folder on the hard drive, remove any read-only attribute, and add it to
Outlook. For the remainder of the process, see this:

Exactly, the file was not picked up by Outlook. My guess was, it was not
exported from the application as a file, which can be transfered to another
Outlook application.
Is Outlook, by going through the wizard (File Import and Export Wizard)
wrapping the file in the unique way, so the file (.pst) is recognized back if
imported through the wizard into Outlook?

If you were using the trial version of OL 2007, chances are your PST is

copied .pst file from another computer.

It usually means you corrupted the pst in the copy process - often happens
if its copied whilst OL is still running

Exactly, the file was not picked up by Outlook.

Outlook doesn't "automatically" do anything with PSTs. You must tell it
which PSTs to use. And you should never export to or import from a PST in
order to transfer data from one Outlook instance to another.

If the .pst was created using Outlook 2007 and you tried to open it in Outlook 2002, it simply is the wrong file format and OUtlook 2002 cannot recognize nor use that format.
