Default Product code not validating

I'm trying to install Office Home and Student 2007. The installation asks me
to enter my 25-digit product key. I'm looking at the Microsoft Certificate
of Authenticity label that's attached to the CD case but when I enter the
number I get a message that the number is not valid. Please provide
assistance. This item was sent to my daughter by my ex husband.

Thank You

There is a big difference between a Product Key and a License Key. Are you entering the license key or Product key ??? Check on the Case or documentation for the license key which is the one that you need to enter

If your computer came with a free trial version of Office 2007 already
installed on it, then you need to uninstall the free trial software
before you install your purchased copy of Office 2007.
